I-405 Brickyard to SR 527 Design Build

The project will extend the existing dual express toll lane (ETL) system 3.5-miles north of its current terminus at NE 160th Street. The project will also construct new travel lanes, direct access ramps, interchange improvements, Stride bus rapid transit stations and related facilities, and new fish passage culverts. Transpo is designing temporary traffic control plans for all phases of the project to support placement of temporary pavement and barrier, lane and shoulder closures, as well as full freeway closures and more. Transpo is also self-performing all of the required traffic analysis to support traffic control plan development.

Secret Creek

The project will replace existing fish barrier culvert crossings on I-5 and Pacific Highway at Secret Creek with three fish passable structures. The project also includes reconstruction of the creek channel through the entire length of the I-5 median section between the two crossings. Transpo is designing maintenance of traffic for both northbound and southbound I-5, as well as Pacific Highway. The MOT approach on I-5 consists of full shooflies to allow construction to occur in a single phase for northbound and southbound. Transpo is also providing traffic control, intelligent transportation system, and illumination designs for both temporary and permanent facilities for the project.

I-405, Renton to Bellevue: Corridor Widening and Express Toll Lane DB

The Renton to Bellevue project will add new capacity to create a two-lane express toll lane system between SR 167 in Renton and NE 6th Street in Bellevue. This project will connect a 40-mile system of express toll lanes that improves speeds and trip reliability for all travelers and supports the new I-405 Bus Rapid Transit system included in the Sound Transit 3 package. Transpo designed maintenance of traffic at the NE 44th St interchange and various traffic control plan setups in downtown Bellevue and at the interchange of I-405 and SR 520.

Padden Creek Fish Passage

This fish barrier removal project constructed two fish-passable structures in Bellingham, WA across I-5 and SR 11. Transpo provided the ITS, traffic signal, illumination, maintenance of traffic, and traffic control designs, along with traffic operations analysis. Leading the Electrical and MOT Task force meetings, the team collaborated with WSDOT, the City of Bellingham, Whatcom Transit Authority, and other stakeholders. Connecting I-5 to the Fairhaven neighborhood, SR 11 underwent temporary closures for fish barrier replacement. Transpo engaged with local stakeholders addressing concerns which ensured minimal impacts on pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicular traffic during the project. 

Kitsap County 29 Fish Passage Design Build

Transpo is partnered with Kiewit Infrastructure Co to deliver the SR 3, SR 104, SR 303, and SR 307, Kitsap County fish barrier removal progressive design build project. The scope of the project consists of 29 locations to remove fish barriers on state highways and replace with fish passable structures. The project consists of two phases: preliminary engineering, and final engineering/design. Transpo’s work includes maintenance of traffic, traffic operations analysis, intelligent transportation systems, traffic signals, and illumination. 

I-405 & 85th Design Build

This mega project will replace the existing two-level cloverleaf interchange with a new three-level interchange supporting the future Sound Transit STRIDE Bus Rapid Transit station and will also construct roadway improvements along NE 85th Street. Transpo is serving as the Work Zone Traffic Engineering Manager (WTEM) leading the engineering of maintenance of traffic (MOT) and traffic control plans. This project involves multiple stages of construction and coordination with multiple agencies including the City of Kirkland.
