Current Webinars

The 1991 ADA regulation required all public entities, regardless of size, to evaluate all their services, policies, and practices and to modify any that did not meet ADA requirements. In addition, public entities with 50 or more employees were required to develop a transition plan detailing any structural changes that would be undertaken to achieve program access and specifying a time frame for their completion. This includes planning efforts for the public right-of-way, buildings, and parks.

This panel discussion webinar will focus on what is being done and what has been completed for public agencies around Washington State. We’ll discuss the elements of a plan, best practices, lessons learned, and how to measure success for an ADA Transition Plan.

This webinar will be moderated by Transpo Group, who brings expertise in ADA transition planning and has completed over a dozen ADA transition plans in the last three years. Our panelists for this discussion include:

  • Larry Watkinson, ADA Compliance Manager at WSDOT

  • Kim Brown, ADA Coordinator at City of Bellingham

  • Michael B. Schneider, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, CASp, Principal at Endelman & Associates Accessibility Consulting

  • Patrick Lynch, AICP, Principal and Director of Public Planning at Transpo Group

  • John Vander Sluis, Planner at King County Road Services Division

As transportation to and from schools continues to evolve, and sites are constrained for space, the overall goal of safe and efficient access has not changed. Transpo has been working with public and private schools for 45 years to design school sites that accommodate all transportation needs. Our work includes both new campuses and improvements to existing campuses. We help identify a range of solutions for busing, walking/biking, and parent drop-off/pick-up. We also understand that funding is tight, and we can help with grants and agency partnerships.

Join us for this webinar in which we discuss and provide direct examples on:

  • Optimizing bus transportation

  • Non-motorized access and connectivity

  • Site access and circulation for existing and new schools
